The number of complaints received by Air India about the quality of food catered to its on board passengers was 26 in 2012 while the number rose to 30 in 2013, Minister of state for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said in Lok Sabha.
He said the airline had received 27 such complaints last year, adding the number stood at 13, till June this year.
It was found that no passenger on the flight had lodged any complaint with the cabin crew on board, adding the station manager also informed that no complaint had been received.
Samples of the in-flight meals are checked by shift duty managers on day-to-day basis besides carrying out surprise checks at caterers' premises to monitor uplift of meals with regard to quality, quantity, taste, presentation and eye appeal, Sharma said.
