Air Marshal Kanakraj inaugurates MC Commanders' meet in Nagpur

Air Marshal P V Kanakraj, Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Maintenance Command, IAF today inaugurated the annual Commanders' Conference here today.
The three-day conference, being held at the Headquarters Maintenance Command, IAF, Vayusena Nagar here, is being attended by all the commanders of Air Force Units under Maintenance Command, a release from the Defence PRO said.
The aim of the conference, is to review the progress of ongoing activities and projects at units under Maintenance Command and evolve strategies and maintenance plans to tackle maintenance issues arising out of induction of new technology and weapon systems in Indian Air Force.
During his speech, Air Marshal P Kanakaraj appreciated the areas of excellence at different units under the Maintenance Command and praised the commanders for their "motivation and focus" for attaining the level of excellence while fulfilling their tasks.
Highlighting the issues affecting the world in general and Indian defence procurement in particular, Kanakraj stressed the need of indignation to reduce the dependency on foreign suppliers. He emphasised on the need to develop vendor base within India.
He said the Indian private industries are extremely capable.

The C-in-C also urged commanders to provide end-to-end solutions in their field of operations and attending to the problems at the grass route level.
Air Marshal laid stress on IAF corporate social responsibility where everyone at the unit contributes towards bringing the differently abled children into the main stream of the society, conservation of resources, particularly electricity and water, controlling pollution by proper disposal/waste management, the release said.
The Air Marshal asked the commanders to ensure enhancement of quality of life at their units and also to make their campus self-sufficient.
In his concluding remarks, he reiterated the commitments of Maintenance Command to meet the operational needs.
Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of the Air Staff would be address the conference tomorrow and distribute trophies to the Base Repair Depots and Equipment Depots, who have excelled in various fields, it said.
