Aircel selects ZTE for 4G network roll out

Telecom operator Aircel has selected Chinese telecom equipment gear maker ZTE for rolling out its 4G network.
"We are happy to partner with ZTE for the deployment of our 4G LTE Networks in India. With this association, we are confident in delivering next-generation networks, critical to meet the growing demand of data in the country," Aircel Chief Marketing Officer Anupam Vasudev said in a statement today.
In the first stage, the LTE deployment will be initiated in Chennai, Rest of Tamil Nadu and few other business critical circles, the statement said.
ZTE India CEO Xu Dejun said that the company will try to mobile internet speed of up to 65 megabit per second (mbps)- which is over 16 times more than the top speed of 4 mbps available for landline retail customers in the country.
"In the initial phase of our rollout, we aim to offer our customers some of the highest data speeds in the country - in excess of 65 Mbps," Dejun said.
Aircel holds airwaves for wireless broadband services in 8 of 22 telecom circles.
