All India Santali Film Association (AISFA) and All India Adivasi Film Producers' Association today demanded tax holiday for the next five years and fifty per cent financial grant for regional films being produced in Jharkhand.
In a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today, president of AISFA Ramesh Hansdah stated Jharkhand has been producing regional films including Santali, Ho and Nagpuri films, but the state government did not have any contribution in promotion of these regional films in the absence of a proper policy.
Hansdah claimed regional films of the state have helped in promoting regional languages and culture.
In his eight-point charter of demand, Hansdah demanded setting up of a Jharkhand Film Development Corporation, ensure allocation of film theatres to distributors and producers for screening regional films at 30 per cent seating cost of the theatres.
He further demanded that the state government should organise a film festival every year and arrange cash awards for regional film producers/artists and 50 per cent financial aid from the state government for producers of regional films, specially for documentary film producers.
