In a letter to Akal Takht (top Sikh temporal seat) Head Gurbachan Singh, AISSF President Karnail Singh urged him to take stern action against Devgn for blasphemous remarks against the community.

He said that the film, to be released in November and produced by Devgn who also plays the lead role, shows the character of Sikhs in a bad light.

The trailer of the film has been already released, containing dialogues like "If Sikhs weren't there then who would have invented abuses?"

Karnail said that lines like "If Sardar weren't there, then on whom would the jokes be made" are very demeaning.

In the film, the lead actor, shown as a turban wearing Sardar, has a tattoo of Hindu Lord Shiva engraved on his chest. This is also against the Sikh principles, he said.

The AISSF chief said that Punjab and Haryana High Court advocate Navkiran Singh had issued a legal notice in this regard to the makers of the film on August 16 and had asked them to delete the objectionable portion in the movie within seven days of receipt of the legal notice.

However, producer and actor Devgn has not responded to the legal notice till date.

The AISSF chief requested Akal Takhta head to intervene in the matter to ensure that the movie is not released with the objectionable parts and also requested him to refer the matter to police for registration of FIR against the makers and actors of the movie.

Earlier this month, a senior lawyer had issued legal notice to the makers of the movie, levying a similar allegation after watching the official trailer.
