Acting on a tip-off, the police captured the absconding leader Saifuiddin Ahmed while he was to travel to New Delhi in the Rajdhani Express.
The parents of the girl had filed an FIR on September 7, 2013 alleging that Ahmed had assaulted and molested their daughter who was working as a maid in his house at Sibsagar.
Ahmed had unsuccessfully contested the 2011 Assembly polls on an AIUDF ticket from Sibsagar.
