"It (setting up of a bench in western Uttar Pradesh) has been a long standing demand of the people of this region which has also got support from various political parties. I met with the Law Minister and asked him to look into it," Singh told PTI.
The Minister said the demand also has relevance as there are 14 lakh pending cases in the High Court and most of them are from western Uttar Pradesh region.
The Law Minister agreed that the demand was genuine and directed the Law Secretary to see how it can be addressed, Singh said.
At present the Allahabad High Court has a bench in Lucknow.
