Chishti met the premier at the Prime Minister's House this evening.

He was accompanied by Mian Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan, a top leader of the ruling Pakistan People's Party from Punjab province. He invited the premier to visit the Ajmer shrine.

Ashraf accepted the invitation and said he would visit Ajmer at "the first available opportunity", said a statement from the premier's office.

Chishti prayed for the "solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the people of Pakistan" and presented a framed copy of the "Durood Sharif" to Ashraf, the statement said.

President Asif Ali Zardari, the chief of the PPP, made a day-long private visit to India in April to pray at the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

He pledged of USD one million, which was handed over to the administration of the shrine earlier this month.

The shrine in Ajmer is revered by many people in Pakistan, including top political leaders.
