Kumar along with his two associates had murdered the SAD Sarpanch Beant Singh on the night of April 5 at Manuke village over old enmity.

Police investigation found that the head of Manuke village was facing four criminal cases. Two murder cases, including one in connection with former Akali MLA Malkeet Singh Keetu's killing in 2012, were also pending against him.
