Akhil Gogoi held for waging war against govt

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee leader Akhil Gogoi has been apprehended today in Dibrugarh district on the charge of instigating people to take up arms against the government at a meeting yesterday, police said.
The public meeting at was organised to protest against various issues like Citizenship Amendment Act, 2016 and non-implementation of Assam Accord.
Gogoi, also an RTI activist, was a speaker at the meeting held at Bamumbari Tea Garden.
While addressing the gathering, Gogoi and Jiten Dutta, leader of pro-talk ULFA, "instigated the common people to wage war against the nation and also delivered speech against communal harmony," a statement from the Assam Police headquarters here said.
"They also announced that they would go for use of arms on non-fulfilment of their demands and they are ready to use 'Hangdang' (sword) and AK-47 rifle in their movement against the Government," the statement said.
A case was registered under various IPC Sections including 121 (waging war against the government of India), 124A (sedition) and 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds) and investigation is on.
The statement, however, did not mention whether any action was taken against Jiten Dutta.
