Akhilesh silent on implementing food bill

Amid opposition of the Samajwadi Party to the Food Security Ordinance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today maintained silence on whether his state will implement the law.
"I will not say anything now. Whatever has to be said will be done at the right time and the right place," he said.
Yadav was at the Planning Commission for finalisation of Uttar Pradesh's plan for the current fiscal.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, he said his government would use the Rs 11365 crore central assistance to implement the flagship schemes of the Centre.
When asked whether the Food Security Ordinance, which is now the law of the land, will also be implemented by the Samajwadi Party government, he said, "The (Monsoon) session is about to commence. Our national president (Mulayam Singh Yadav) and other SP leaders will decide on the issue in the Lok Sabha...They will put across their views."

The SP, which provides outside support to the Congress- led UPA government, is opposed to certain provisions of the food bill.
"The Samajwadi Party opposes this bill because it is against the interest of the farmers. The day this bill is implemented, the farmer would not get his due amount for the yield and his condition would further deteriorate," SP leader Naresh Aggarwal had recently said.
Recently, Mulayam Singh had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and opposed the food ordinance.
