"I believe that if the chief minister takes a firm resolve, riots cannot take place anywhere in the state. But since they are happening it means either he is slack or people down in the administration are not listening to him...Or that there is some tacit understanding", AICC general secretary and in-charge of party affairs in the state, Madhusudan Mistry said.
The party leader who earlier in the day held a meeting vice presidents and general secretaries of the state unit said that his party will be holding a protest against the state government on August 17 and workers will gherao the vidhan sabha which will be in session at that time.
UPCC president Nirmal Khatri who was also present said that if there was anything concrete in Yadav's charge why did "he did he not say anything during the Congress rule as he is indicating now ..He should have displayed this courage then... a leader of his stature not saying anything out of fear and remaining silent shows cowardice.
