The 42-year-old actor will play the lead role of Paul Janson, who is an ex-Navy SEAL and former member of a US government covert agency called Consular Operations.
Janson is haunted by his memories of the Vietnam War and his brilliant commander and mentor, Alan Demarest.
Johnson took to Twitter to announce Goldsman's association with the project. "Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman will write the script. Let's roll... #Ludlum #Conspiracy #JansonDirective," he tweeted.
Goldsman, 52, received an Academy award for best adapted Screenplay for the 2001 film 'A Beautiful Mind', which also won the Oscar for best picture.
