A village sarpanch was
seriously injured in an attack in Murtizapur tehsil of the district.
The incident took place at Rajnapur Khinkhini village.
Five men, hailing from the same village, attacked Yogesh alias Guddu Sable (38), the sarpanch, with sticks and iron pipes last evening, police said.
Sable was reportedly against liquor sale, which had annoyed the liquor sellers in the area. The assailants were identified as Nagorao, Dhamma, Rahul, Raju Dadarao and Balu, all from Kidrak family.
While Nagorao was arrested, police were looking for others.
