However, no report of any untoward incidents have been reported so far from any part of the Assam, police sources said.
AKRSU had called the bandh protesting the alleged harassment of student leaders and youths belonging to the Koch Rajbongshi community by the police in name of finding the culprits responsible for the abduction and murder of Agriculture department executive engineer Gadapani Pathak in May this year.
Officials said the bandh was complete in Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Chirang districts. Shops and business establishment remained closed.
Massive security arrangements were made in the three districts on account of the bandh.
The bandh affected vehicular traffic in roads and even the National Highway 37 was virtually without any traffic.
The bandh also impacted life in some parts of the Nalbari district. Some bandh supporters were taken into custody in Nalbari.

Similarly Dhubri and Goalpara district in the southern bank of Brahmaputra were also affected by the bandh to a large extent.
The bandh did not have any response in the districts of upper Assam and Barak Valley. The bandh will get over at 5 am tomorrow morning.
Pathak was allegedly killed by suspected Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) militants.
