Al-Jazeera announced today that one of its cameramen has been killed while covering the conflict in Syria.
Zakaria Ibrahim, who worked for Al-Jazeera Arabic, died after being wounded several days ago during shelling in Homs, in the west of the country.
An on-screen announcement today said that Ibrahim had died after he "succumbed to wounds he suffered in the past few days". His death was also confirmed by colleagues on social media.
The Doha-based broadcaster was expected to make a full statement about the circumstances of the cameraman's death later.
He is not the first Al-Jazeera cameraman to die while covering the ongoing conflict in Syria.
In June it was announced that Mohammed al-Asfar had died while covering fighting in the southern city of Daraa.
In addition, Al-Jazeera Arabic journalist Mahran al-Deeri was killed last December while also covering fighting in Daraa.
