Alagiri files petition seeking relaxation of bail conditions

Former Union Minister M K Alagiri, who obtained anticipatory bail last month in a land- grabbing case, today filed a petition before the Madras High Court bench here seeking relaxation in certain bail conditions.
While granting antipatory bail, the High Court here had imposed a condition that he should appear before the crime branch's anti-land grabbing unit and sign there every day.
Alagiri, son of DMK chief M Karunanidhim, in his petition sought relaxation in the conditions.
The District Crime Branch and anti-land grabbing special cell had filed a case against Alagiri stating that he had created false documents for cheating and grabbed 44 cents of land belonging to Vinayagar temple for Dhya Engineering college at nearby Sivarakottai, run by a trust headed by him.
The complaint about the alleged land-grabbing was lodged by the Assistant Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Board.
