Alert security guard foils bank burglary attempt

An alert security guard today foiled a bid by an unidentified gang to loot a nationalised bank's branch at a village in the district, police said.
The burglars gained entry into the bank in Kottampatti village by breaking open the window in the rear side, early this morning.
The security guard of the bank heard the noise and raised an alarm, following which the accused fled the spot before the locals rushed there, police said.
