All-India cycling to back medical humanitarianism concludes

: A solo bicycle journey, which began from Jammu and Kashmir three months ago to propagate the message of medical humanitarianism, has concluded in the Kerala capital.
Dr Unni Karunakaran, an assistant clinical professor for public health at Columbia University who cycled all the way to spread the message of the international organisation "Doctors Without Borders" a.K.A "Medecins Sans Frontieres" (MSF), ended his lengthy trip here on Friday.
Unni, a former international president of the Nobel Peace Prize winning outfit, covered around 5,700 kilometres in 112 days in his cycle, crossing 10 states.
He rode into the IMA office here,accompanied by bikers and friends from the city, marking the culmination of the journey.

"I feel I have come full-circle. It is really a life-long dream. Medical professionals should be aware about the significance of humanitarian approach to be taken in the healthcare sector," Unni told a press-meet here today.
He said during his journey, he conversed with students and doctors of around 10 medical colleges across the country and could screen movies regarding the medical humanitarianism.
Unni also rode with a diverse group of people, including Canadian Olympian Helen Upperton, economist Jyotsna Puri,award winning film maker Dylan Mohan Grey and so on during the journey.
Martin Sloot, General Director of MSF and Dr Santhosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Medical College here were also present at the press meet.
