All preparations would be made for the Assam contingent taking part in the 36th National Games in Kerala next year, state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has said here.
The state government has earmarked Rs one crore for the preparations, Gogoi told a meeting with representatives of the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) affiliated state and district sports associations here.
The 36th National Games would be held between January 31 and February 14 in Kerala.
The arrangement of coaching of various disciplines at one place would help build team spirit and enhance performance level, Gogoi said at the meeting yesterday.
"Holding of the State Games after every two years must be organised in every district headquarters. It will go a long way in unearthing the latent talents," a government release quoted Gogoi as saying.
The meeting unanimously decided to hold the State Games at Silchar in February next year, the release said.

The Chief Minister also emphasised on making use of the sports infrastructure created during the 33rd National Games in Guwahati and other stadia in the state.
"Many months are lost during rainy season. The best way to keep the momentum going is to hold indoor games by building temporary covers overhead," he said.
For encouraging sportspersons from Assam, Gogoi said suitable incentives would be extended to the players who had taken part in the 2011 National Games in Jharkhand.
He said the state government would bear the to and fro air expenses also to those players not among the medal winners to enable them to take part in the upcoming Asian Games.
"I do not support the Government of India's policy of depriving players from getting air tickets at state exchequer's cost to participate in Asian Games just because they did not get medals," the Chief Minister said.
