The filmmakers will have more opportunities to shoot their films in the picturesque locales of Uttarakhand post the completion of the all-weather roads project, which will ensure better connectivity, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said here today.
Rawat made the remarks at a meeting with the makers of Bollywood's upcoming Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer "Batti Gul Meter Chalu", which has been shot in Uttarakhand's Tehri city.
The film's director Narayan Singh and producer Nitin Chandrachud met Rawat and thanked him for the cooperation extended during the shooting.
The chief minister said that the completion of the all-weather roads project will provide access to the state's less explored scenic areas, which will translate into more opportunities for filmmakers to shoot in Uttarakhand.
To promote Uttarakhand as a film shooting destination, the state government had recently waived off the fees for shooting movies, Rawat told the filmmakers.
Thirteen new tourist destinations, one in each district, are also being developed to provide better opportunities to the filmmakers, he said.

Rawat said that the filmmakers who come to shoot their films in Uttarakhand will get the government's full support.
The 150-km-long all-weather roads project, between Tanakpur and Pithoragarh, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year. It is likely to be completed by 2019.
