All-women team raid house, arrest three people

In a first of its kind operation, a team of all-women police personnel raided the residence of a family which was allegedly involved in drug peddling where it arrested the father, son and daughter trio along with large quantity of psychotropic material here this morning.
The accused have been identified as Kamlesh alias Baby (59), her son Mandeep (25) and her daughter Pooja alias Kiran (28).
Kamlesh is involved in four cases previously and has been convicted in three cases under NDPS Act. Her elder daughter Anuradha is also convicted in NDPS case and is presently in jail.
"An all-women team was pressed into the raid as the tip off had indicated presence of women in the house and there had been instances in the past where Kamlesh and his family had leveled false allegations of harrassment against police personnel who had gone to arrest them," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) R A Sanjeev.

Police had received complaints regarding sale of drugs at D-58, Chanakya Place Part-1, and New Delhi-59 by one Kamlesh and his family.
On this information, surveillance was kept on the house. Early this morning, a tip off was received that a raid must be conducted immediately as there is possibility of recovery of huge amount of drugs.

A 30- strong team of all women cops led by ACP Dabri Harsha Vardhan was formed to raid the house.
"When the team raided the house, they met with stiff resistance. The house had three-layered security and iron gates were installed inside the house as well. However, they succeeded in entering the house and nabbed the trio. The team recovered two kg of marijuana and 266 gm of smack from the house," he said.

This raid has shown a very professional combination of local intelligence development by field staff, planning and coordination at sub-division level and execution by an all woman team, he added.
