Judicial work was paralysed today at the Allahabad High Court following a day-long strike by advocates protesting against the clash between them and the students.
The advocates led by High Court Bar Association President Rakesh Pandey squatted in front of the court's main gate blocking entry of people inside the premises.
Agitating lawyers demanded prompt action against concerned police authorities for their failure to prevent yesterday's incident of violence.
They also demanded adequate compensation for those advocates who received injuries in clashes or whose vehicles were damaged.
Tight security arrangements were in place around the High Court in view of the volatile situation though no untoward incident was reported so far.
A woman had died of 'shock' when she tried to flee the spot and ten others were injured in yesterday's violence. A large number of vehicles belonging to legal practitioners were vandalised.

Trouble began yesterday when the lawyers had blocked traffic on the busy Allahabad-Kanpur road in protest against the alleged assault on some lawyers two days ago.
As the lawyers' protest was on, a group of Allahabad University students took out a rally canvassing for the upcoming students' union election.
The students asked the protesting lawyers to clear the road for their procession which the latter refused. This led to a clash with both sides engaging in stone-pelting.
