Alleged gangster acquitted in Dalit murder case

A local court today acquitted a person in connection with the murder of a Dalit labourer in 2012 after all witnesses turned hostile.
Additional District and Sessions Judge D K Garg acquitted Vinod Bawla, who is facing over 45 criminal cases, of the murder of Rakesh.
It was alleged that Rakesh, a manual labourer, was shot dead on September 10, 2012 in Kinoni village of Shahpur area after he refused to work in the fields of Bawala.
Bawala was later named in the FIR and police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh on his information as he was absconding.
He was arrested in Noida after an encounter with police in February, 2013 and was shifted to Muzaffarnagar district jail.
However, during the court proceedings, all the eye witnesses turned hostile and Bawla was acquitted, defence lawyer Anwar Ali Siddiqui said.
Bawla is facing over 45 cases of murder, loot and kidnapping in Western UP.
