The fund collection,kept in abeyance following controversy over alleged allotment of Calicut University's land to the IUML run institution, has been revived now and "is the latest incident that shows supremacy of IUML in the administration', CPI(M) secretariat said in a statement here today.
Quoting a government circular, it said instructions had been issued to extend Rs three lakh grant to district panchayats, Rs two lakhs to block panchayats and Rs one lakh to Panchayats for the Foundation, chaired by IUML leader and Member of Parliament E T Muhammed Basheer.
It was not proper to spend public money under the cover of charity, the release said and demanded that government stop this practice.
