Almond prices rise on pick-up in demand

Almond prices rose by Rs 200 per 40 kg in the national capital today on increased buying by retailers and stockists due to seasonal demand amidst low stocks.
The uptrend was also supported by fall in supplies from overseas markets.
Almond california rose by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 20,200 per 40 kg and its kernel prices were up by Rs 5 to trade higher at Rs 715-730 per kg, respectively.
Marketmen said fresh buying by retailers and stockists to meet seasonal demand against fall in supplies from overseas markets pushed up almond prices on the dry fruit market here.
Following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):
Almond (California) Rs 20,200, Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,200-8,500; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 6,500-6,600; Abjosh Afghani Rs 14,000-21,000.
Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 715-730 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 625-725 per kg.
