Almond prices were up by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today on the back of fresh buying by retailers and pick up in demand from bulk consumers.
Furthermore, tight stocks following fall in supplies from overseas markets also supported the uptrend.
Almond (California) prices were higher by Rs 100 to Rs 17,000-17,200 per 40 kg and its kernel rates also edged up by Rs 5 to Rs 610-615 per kg.
Marketmen said increased buying by retailers and stockists driven by ongoing wedding season against restricted supplies from overseas markets, mainly pushed up almond prices.
Following are today's quotations (per 40 kgs):
Almond (California) Rs 17,000-17,200, Almond(Gurbandi-new) Rs 12,000-12,200, Almond (Girdhi) Rs 5,500-5,600; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-23,000.
