Almond rises on supply pressure

Almond prices rose by Rs 100 per 40 kg in the national capital today on the back of increased buying by retailers and stockists amid fall in supplies from overseas markets.
Almond california rose by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 18,200 per 40 kg and its kernel prices traded higher at Rs 625-650 as compared with Rs 620-645 per kg, respectively.
Market analysts said besides increased demand from retailers and stockists, restricted arrivals from overseas markets, influenced almond prices on the dry fruit market here.
The following are today's quotations (per 40 kg):
Almond (California) Rs 18,200 Almond (Gurbandi-new) Rs 8,000-8,200; Almond (Girdhi) Rs 4,500-4,800; Abjosh Afghani Rs 8,000-22,000.
Almond Kernel (California-new) Rs 625-650 per kg, Almond Kernel (Gurbandi-new) Rs 500-550 per kg.
