Aluminium prices advanced by 0.22 per cent to Rs 138.75 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built positions amid rising demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in August edged up by 30 paise, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 138.75 per kg in a business turnover of 22 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contracts was up by 20 paise, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 138.50 per kg in a business turnover of 204 lots.
Analysts said expansion of positions by participants, driven by surging demand from consuming industries in the physical market kept aluminium prices higher in futures trade.
