In a rare, heartwarming speech about her husband, George Clooney, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney gave an insight into the private lives of the Hollywood power couple.
Amal, 40, raised a toast to George, who received the Life Achievement Award from the American Film Institute, and acknowledged that she had agreed to speak publicly about her husband for the first time.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, she started her address by outlining "a few things you may not know about George."
Amal also went on to reveal that five years ago before she met the actor she had "become quite resigned to the idea that I was going to be a spinster." She said that from those early days hiding from the press in her London flat she knew she "would never want to be with anyone else."
It was a teary-eyed moment for the actor who looked on when she added, "My love, what I have found with you is the great love I always hoped existed. And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life."
