He maintained that the Director General of Police Sumedh Singh Saini was clearly trying to protect the guilty cops who were his favourites.
"Otherwise what is the purpose in not naming the guilty when everybody knew who they were?" he pointed out.
A case of murder and Arms act was registered yesterday against unidentified personnel of a police team in connection with the October 14 firing in Faridkot in which two Sikhs were killed and over 70 others were injured.
The former Chief Minister pointed out, it is an admitted fact by the police themselves that the suspended Moga SSP Charanjit Sharma had ordered the police firing and the local SHO and his team had fired at the peaceful protesters.

"Where is the doubt or any ambiguity not to name these two persons in the FIR?" he asked, while adding, "just because these cops are close favourites of the DGP Sumedh Saini, they were being protected".
"It is the person who has ordered the firing who should be held guilty and in this case it was clearly the suspended Moga SSP who is now being protected by his boss", he asserted, while reiterating that the same cop along with the concerned SHO must be named in the FIR as the prime accused, dismissed from the services and immediately arrested".
