Punjab and Haryana Chief Ministers Amarinder Singh and Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday hailed the sacrifices and valour of the heroes of the Kargil War with Pakistan on its 20th anniversary.

Laying a wreath at the War Memorial at the Bougainvillea Garden in Chandigarh, Singh paid rich tributes to the 54 brave sons of Punjab who died during the 1999 war. He urged the youth to follow their ideals to uphold India's sovereignty and integrity, according to an official statement.

Haryana CM Khattar said in a tweet, "Heroes will never die, if they do, they'll live in the hearts of the people".

"Let's Honour & Salute the victorious Kargil heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland's peace and prosperity."
