Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today promised to restore the dignity and honour of the ex-servicemen if the party comes to power in the state.
Amarinder, who was addressing an ex-servicemen convention here, said they will be given due "recognition and representation" after the ex-servicemen demanded they should be included in the government to get their problems solved.
The PCC chief said during his tenure he had given special instructions to the police and civil officials to treat serving and ex-servicemen with honour and dignity, failing which action would be taken against them.
He said the Congress government will put on priority the allotment of tube-well connections to ex-servicemen.
Earlier, Col Bhag Singh (retired) listed various demands of the ex-servicemen, including the gross disparities in the one rank one pension scheme.
He also demanded implementation of double pension for ex-servicemen, the notification for which has been withheld by the Badal government.
