"Spread across two lakh square foot in Chennai and Coimbatore, the fulfilment centres are aimed at empowering small and medium businesses to reach a wider customer base," a company statement said.
The company already has an urban fulfilment centre here.
"These fulfilment centres will further enable Amazon to support deliveries under the recently launched Prime programme and offer faster delivery," it said.
"As we gear up for the festive season, fulfilment centres will play a defining role in improving the experience of customers and sellers," Amazon India, Customer Fulfilment, Vice-President, Akhil Saxena said.
Amazon currently has 27 fulfilment centres in 10 states with a combined storage space of 7.50 million cubic feet, it said.
