The chain hunger strike of the Kashmiri pandit employees, who have refused to join their duties in the Valley after stone-pelting mobs allegedly attacked their transit camps there in the wake of the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani, entered the 5th day today.
The employees, under the banner All Migrant Employees Association of Kashmir (AMEAK), have been on a sit-in-protest at Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner's office here for the last 106th days and are seeking "guaranteed safety and security in Kashmir and release of pending salaries".
All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC), which is supporting the employees, said it would resort to "nationwide agitation if the government tries to make Kashmiri pandit employees as scapegoats even as the schools were being burnt down and administration has failed to protect the locals of the Valley".
