A 33-year-old man from California has been extradited from Kosovo after making death threats against an employee at the US embassy in Pristina, the Justice Department said today.
Robert Kanli will appear before a federal court in Virginia tomorrow, according to a statement from prosecutors.
He faces up to five years in prison for making threats to a foreign mission.
He is alleged to have sent threatening emails to a consular official after learning that the USD 56 cost of a new passport application would not be reimbursed.
Kanli was attempting to obtain a new passport for the sixth time after losing five previously issued passports.
