Chatwal, who has been a staunch supporter of the Clintons, said while Trump's victory has come as a shock, it is now time for Americans to put their differences behind and support their new President.
On his part, Trump should also "comfort" the country and assure its citizens that he will find "proper solutions" to the issues of immigration, infrastructure development and job creation.
"He has to now bring the country together. He has to come forward very soon and build the confidence of the American people, assuring them that he will offer proper solutions to the issues of immigration and job creation," Chatwal told PTI.
Chatwal stressed that American citizens should "give him full support to their new President."
"It is our duty to give our support to our new leader. We have to forget what has been said and done in the past and look forward to the future and work as a team. We have to give our cooperation to him."
Chatwal said Trump should remember that his grandfather too was an immigrants and America is a land of immigrants, adding that Trump should set aside differences and work to unite people in the country across the spectrum.
