BJP president Amit Shah will visit Purulia's Balrampur area later this month amid a row over the alleged killing of its two workers there in the aftermath of the violence-marred panchayat elections.

BJP state general secretary, Sayantan Basu said Shah will visit West Bengal for two days from June 27 . "On June 28 Amit Shah ji will visit Purulia's Balrampur area. He will hold meetings with district leaders there. The rest of the schedule is yet to be approved," Basu said.

Bodies of two BJP activists 35-year-old Dulal Kumar and 20-year -old Trilochan Mahato were found hanging in West Bengal's Purulia district on June 2 and May 31 respectively in two separate incidents in a span of three days. The BJP had alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) was behind the killings. However, the TMC has denied the BJP charge.

According to senior state BJP leaders, Shah's visit to West Bengal especially Purulia is significant as it comes after the party's improved performance in the panchayat polls and the alleged killing of its workers.

After the death of Mahato, Shah had tweeted: "Deeply hurt by the brutal killing of our young karyakarta, Trilochan Mahato, in Balarampur, West Bengal. A young life full of possibilities was brutally taken under state's patronage. He was hanged on a tree just because his ideology differed from that of state sponsored goons."
