Amity University Dubai has made a contribution of USD 2.72 million to a UAE-based not-for-profit organisation working in the field of healthcare here.
The contribution was made to Al Jalila Foundation which will name one of its research centres after Amity, a non-profit group of educational institutions with branches in India, the US, the UK, China and Singapore among others.
"We look forward to working with Al Jalila Foundation to turn theoretical solutions into tangible realities," said Atul Chauhan, Chancellor of Amity University.
Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the foundation, said: By taking a microscopic view of health challenges that have a high prevalence in our country, scientists will gain a clearer view of possible solutions while our society will also gain a higher level of health literacy."
Alongside medical treatment and education, medical research is one of focus areas of the foundation set up by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Abdulkareem Sultan Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, said such grants were the building blocks of creating a strong culture of research in the UAE.
"We are deeply grateful to Amity for supporting our vision, and with the collective support of UAE society we can put our country at the forefront of medical innovation worldwide," he said.
