The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam Tuesday warned of taking legal action against the Madurai Aadheenam pontiff Arunagirinatha Gnanasambanda Desikar for reportedly saying that the party would merge with the ruling AIADMK.
AMMK would take legal action if the pontiff continued making remarks that the party would merge with AIADMK in due course, the party deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran said here.
Dhinakaran, here for campaigning, hit out at the BJP and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to visit the State when it was ravaged by cyclonic storms.
He slammed DMK president M K Stalin for allegedly making scandalous remarks against an inquiry commission probing the circumstances leading to the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
Dhinakaran said the DMK was confused and shedding crocodile tears over the matter and trying to fool the people.
The AMMK leader claimed the AIADMK was trying to postpone the bypolls to 18 assembly seats, citing seizure of huge amount of money in the run up to the elections, fearing that it might lose majority in the State assembly and the government would collapse.
