The survivors of the 2011 AMRI fire incident and their relatives apprehend that those guilty in a city market fire two days back, which claimed 19 lives, would eventually roam free as happened in the AMRI case.
Like in AMRI, some people would be arrested, but after sometime all would get bail, Saradindu Ray, whose father-in law died in the December, 2011 fire, which claimed more than 90 people, expressed fear.
After the AMRI fire incident the state government had formed two committees to look into the fire safety measures in various buildings of the state.
"The state government had said it would take measures. The recent fire incident has shown what kind of measures it has taken. Such incidents will keep on happening and common people will keep on dying," Samir Sarkar, who lost his friend in the AMRI fire, said.
"I don't know whether we will ever get justice. It has been more than one year, but all the accused are walking freely," Rana, who lost his sister, said.
They all lashed out at the state government for not doing enough to arrange proper fire fighting mechanism in high-rises in the city.
Nineteen people were killed and four others severely injured when a massive fire broke out at a market complex in the Sealdah area which housed inflammable articles.
