Amritsar shivers as mercury dips to minus 0.2 C at night

Severe cold wave gripped Amritsar today with the night temperature touching minus 0.2 degrees Celsius, even as cold conditions continued in other parts of Punjab.
Amritsar's minimum temperature further dropped from yesterday's 2.2 degrees Celsius and settled four notches below normal limits today, the MeT Department said here.
Ludhiana was also cold at 6 degrees Celsius while Patiala recorded a low of 7.3 degrees C.
Cold conditions also prevailed in Chandigarh, with night temperature settling at 6 degrees C, one notch below normal.
In Haryana, Narnaul once again turned out to be the coldest place recording a low of 3.5 deg C, down two notches than normal.
Hisar and Karnal also reeled under intense cold recording below normal identical minimum temperatures of 5.5 degrees C.
Also, Ambala registered a low of 7.2 deg C.
