VC Lt General (Retd) Zameer Uddin Shah met the protesters last night and assured that "justice will be meted out to them".
He said if they agreed to appear in the retest for admission, "there will be no victimisation of the protesters".
With this the admission seekers decided to end the protest, including indefinite hunger strike by one student.
Last week, the AMU Vice Chancellor had suspended the chairman of Department of Commerce following an inquiry on alleged "irregularities" in the admission process for PhD candidates.
More than 14 admission seekers who had earlier qualified for the test had lauded the Vice-Chancellor's decision to conduct the above probe, but were averse to appearing for a retest.
