The annual meeting of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) court which was to be held tomorrow here has been rescheduled to April 11, an University spokesperson said.
Meeting which was to be held tomorrow, after the Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah announced on Wednesday that all classes will remain suspended till Feb 25 and posponed the meeting in the wake of eight confirmed cases of swine flu reported from the AMU's community.
At the meeting, the next Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Honorary Treasurer of the institution and six members of AMU's Executive Council will be elected.
AMU court is the supreme governing body of the varsity.
Although AMU Teachers' Association (AMUTA) and some members of the University Court had yesterday criticised the VC's decision, the spokesman justified it saying, the move was to check the out break of H1N1 virus at the campus.
According to the spokesperson, the total number of swine flu positive cases within the AMU community has now risen to 10 and amongst these are two senior faculty members of the Varsity.
