The team, headed by Dr Qasim Rizvi and including 10 doctors from Nehru Medical college, AMU, is equipped with a large consignment of medicines and other relief material for providing immediate medical assistance, Pro Vice Chancellor Retd Brigadier Ahmad Ali said.
The Aligarh Drug and Pharmacists Association has also donated medicines worth more than Rs one lakh for relief work.
On the occasion, Pro VC Ali said that the university was coordinating with the Army authorities in the flood-hit areas in Jammu and Kashmir to assist them to provide treatment to the needy.
Some student bodies at the university, including the Sir Syed Foundation, have urged the AMU authorities to cancel the Annual Sir Syed Day Dinner scheduled for October 17 and divert the funds of this annual event for flood victims.
