The new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Prof Tariq Mansoor has sought greater cooperation between the alumni and departments of the varsity in areas like placements and developing online courses.
In a letter to associations and individuals in India and abroad, Mansoor said that while different alumni associations were in touch with the Alumni Affairs Committee Coordinator, his objective was to widen the role of the varsity's ex- students.
The VC urged the alumni to collaborate in the area of "setting up and developing a large number of online courses" on the lines of similar courses provided by prominent foreign universities.
In the letter, Mansoor announced the setting up of a task force to explore the scope and content of different online learning programmes.
In today's high pressure professional environment, online courses are going to play a vital role in the field of higher education, he said.
The VC appealed to the different alumni organisations to play a more prominent role in contributing to the varsity's endowment fund.
