Alleging that gangster Anandpal Singh's escape from police custody was "part of a conspiracy", former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said there appeared to be "no or very poor coordination" between the offices of CM Vasundhara Raje and Home Minister G C Kataria.
"Four days after escape of Anandpal and two accomplices, it appears that there is no coordination between the Chief Minister's Office and the office of Home Minister," Gehlot told TV reporters after a Pradesh Congress Committee event here.
He said this lack of coordination is the reason of "ineffectiveness" of the police administration.
"...Home Minister Kataria is not listened to or allowed to do anything in the police administration... The atmosphere is such that the faith on (the) Home Minister is over as he (Kataria) cannot do anything or take any action against anyone," Gehlot said.
Anandpal, a gangster allegedly involved in several cases of arms smuggling and murder, and two other criminals escaped when unidentified persons opened fire at a van in which they was being taken to Ajmer jail after being produced in a local court in Didwana town in Rajasthan on September 3.
"Criminals like Anandpal cannot escape without any conspiracy and connivance... It is surprising despite (a) 12-policemen team (escorting the van)...Three of the criminals fled from on way from Ajmer to Deedwana," he said.
"I have been repeatedly saying that a Rajasthan minister went to jail to meet this Anandpal. Who is that (minister) and why did he go to hold talks? The government should divulge his name," the Congress leader said.
While criminals were being allowed to flee, the state's youths demanding jobs were beaten up at BJP office by police, Gehlot claimed, and questioned where were 15 lakh jobs Chief Minister Raje promised ahead of election.
