Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured people here today that his government is committed to complete all ongoing irrigation projects.
In his hour long speech at Kamalapuram in Kadapa district on Friday evening, he said that water would be supplied to the drought affected area, as part of the Galeru-Nagiri and Handri-Neeva Sujalasravanthi schemes.
"By linking Godavari river to the Krishna basin, water will be supplied for drinking and irrigation needs of Kadapa's people. The Pattiseema project will be completed ahead of schedule and water diverted from Godavari river to the Krishna basin will be supplied to the region," he said.
He said that all tanks including Sarvarayasagar and Vamikonda reservoir will be filled with Krishna water.
Naidu criticised Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) employees for going on a strike without considering the needs of the people and students attending competitive exams.
He said that though the APSRTC is running under heavy losses, the management is willing to give a 27 per cent hike, but the unions have demanded a 42 per cent hike, which is impossible due to the present financial situation of the state.
He urged APSRTC employees to call off their strike and work for the betterment of the state-owned company.
