The movie is an adaptation of the 1998 animated hit, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The studio is on a fast track to make the movie which is slated to be released in US theaters on November 2, 2018. They are want to lock down a director as soon as possible.
Another studio, Sony, is also developing a live-action adaptation based on the same Chinese ballad. The studio is looking for an Asian director for the project which is expected to feature a predominantly Asian cast. Though it is said to be in very early development, "Mirror Mirror" scribe Jason Keller is already on board to pen the script for the movie.
