Anganwadi worker found dead, CM extends Rs 2 lakh compensation

A 30-year-old woman Anganwadi worker was found dead in the lake town of Bheemtal in the state near here following which Chief Minister Harish Rawat directed officials to probe the case even as he announced a monetary compensation of Rs 2 lakh for her family.
The victim, a resident of Bairijala village who visited Bheemtal yesterday, was found dead on the road late in the evening by her family members who went searching for her when she didn't return for long, police said.
The body has been sent for post mortem and the investigation would be carried forward only after receiving the report, they said.
Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Harish Rawat directed the officials to quickly probe the incident and bring the accused to justice, the CM's media in-charge Surendra Kumar said.
The CM also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased, he said.
